Averia FRG-8800 Display intermitente....

Eso es que se desengancha el PLL. lo primero, ponle las pilas de backup. sin ellas funciona realmente mal,
Y lo segundo, es cierto que algun condensador o nresistencia del VCO o del PLL, con el tiempo cambiaban de valor y el PLL no enganchaba. a ver si encuentro dónde lei la solución.... fue hace ya mogollon de años.
No era complicado, ya que las placas de CI no están muy populosas.
Hasta que pude cambiar el condensador famoso, descubrí que el "no enganche" dependía mucho de la frecuencia y de la temperatura ambiente.En el mio, puse en las memorias 3 frec. distintas en las cuales enganchaba siempre en función de la temperatura: una era baja, 2 o 3 mhz, otra por enmedio,
15 mhe, y otre en 29, y al encenderlo ponía esa memoria y enganchaba. también, en verano lo tenia que poner al fresco (lo metia 15 minutos en la nevera! ) y en invierno cerquita de algun radiador, y enganchaba. que tiempos aquellos...

Sinceramente no he mirado gran cosa, eso si , he llamado a Astec y me han atendido muy amablemente diciendome que era problema del Pll que no engancha , pero como es un equipo que no le entra ya a reparar ni siquiera recuerdan que pudiera ser.

Si me ha dicho que lo lógico al reparar es reajustar las bandas y eso son 120 papeles mas iva a parte de los componentes que salgan mal..

Tambien me comentan que el integrado que gestipna la pll puede ser obsoleto y no encontrarse , pero pienso mas en eso que comentas.

De todos modos no lo he probado a encender memorizando frecuencias extremos , por si le diera a la Pll encganchar en algún rango de frecuencia.

He dejado el equipo en manos de un amigo haber si con sus conocimientos y vuestras experiencias pudiera hacerle volver andar.

es que vendí el frg hace ahora aprox un año, está en la zona 7, y creo que lo di con todos los papeles, como es lógico.
Osea que o me acuerdo de repente de lo que habiua que cambiar, (dificilillo, no?)
o intentaré hablar con el colega que se lo vendí, a ver si están alli los papeles de cómo se arreglaba eso...

Hi all I trying too repair a FRG-8800 ! 1st no display but suring the net found the fix with reseting the cpu and rmeoving the batts, however it just flashes display at 10.000Mhz the VFO does track and I get the signal strength display at full tilt and no audio, Read that this may be a PLL fault ? but measuring the voltage a TP03 and 10.000Mhz and going upto 29.999Mhz does not seem to ty in with what is on the net. Does anyone have the correct procedure from the Service manual for setting up the PLL, or has anyone seen this fault.

Hi Mark,

Was wondering if you manage to correct the problem with your FRG8800 rec. I posted a similar problem on this forum back in March 2005 but had no reply. The disply on my FRG8800 starts blinking after 22Mhz, or after 1 or 2hrs of use.

My FRG-8800 frequency display just started blinking or flashing! I can reset set it only temporarily by unplugging it and taking the memory batteries out for a while. Somebody out there must have run into this and has a permanent fix for this problem. Please let me (and others) know what to do!

Your problem is well known with the FRG-8800. Even my set has had that problem.

>1. Remove the AC cable from the AC jack. Remove the top cover.
>2. Remove the PLL unit from the chassis.
>3. Remove R18 22k ohm 1/4w resistor. Replace with 4.7k ohm 1/4w resistor.
>(add solder side)
>4. Replace the PLL unit.
>5. Replace top cover. Modification is now complete.

But that does not fix the problem always, every set is reacting different!

A better way to handle is find out the right value of the resistor yourself.
First: take the batteries out the compartment.
Connect a resistor of 4K7 in serie with a var. resistor of 47K ohm(or higher).
Remove R18 (near Q05) and connect on the same place your resistors(with some wirering).
1. Turn the var. resistor of 47 K to its max value, power on the set and turn the var. resistor to its minimum value untill the pll locks. Switch power off and on again to see if the pll keeps locking; find the value on witch the pll immideatly locks,
(the display shows 10.000 Mhz).
Remove one end of the resistors and measure with your multi-meter the resistance of the var. resistor; write this value(one)down (say 18K6).
2. Do the same as 1. with the var. resistor turned from its minimum value to its maximum value untill the pll locks; write this value(2) down (say 3K5).
3. The resistor value to replace R18 is:
(value(1) + value(2) + 4K7) devided by two (rounded to the nearest value)
so: (18K6 + 3K5 + 4K7) / 2 = 13K4 (rounded to 12K)

Do you have the service manual to find the right spot of R18? If not, sent a message back to this forum and i will sent it to you.

He leido algo en "anglosajón" y habla de desmontar la placa pll y modificar los valores de un par de resistencias pero no lo veo claro..

Haber si por casualidad alguno de vosotros ha tenido o conoce a alguien que se topase con este problema en su yaesu.
